UPDATE
So I know I haven't commented or responded to anyone in a few days, I've just got a lot going on right now.

Ahah, so, fun story. xD
My cousin's dance competition was Monday, and my mom and I went down to support her for her solo. I thought it'd be cool to brind Aedryan along, [my SLR camera] to get a few quick shots so I could show her what an old-fasioned dark room photo looks like.
So I had it around my neck when we went in, giant ancient leather case is hard to mistake. I sat near the front for her dance and snapped off maybe eight photos with some good film then went back to my seat.
Less than ten minutes later some woman rushes over to our seats and leans over my mom/aunt to hiss at me. "I saw you take photos during 'Siren,' delete the photos NOW. THe dancer will be disqualified if you don't." I tried to explain that I had a film camera but she didn't get it. xD; I even used the 'I'm an photography student' line and she said she was an art student too, which makes me laugh since she looked at least thirty. In any case I rolled the film back up into the roll and told her that it was destroyed. xP
The whole drama is because the competitions have their own professionally hired photographers who take pictures and film the dances. Also, there were NO SIGNS ANYWHERE that said no photography. The one and only note saying that was in the pamplet given to only the dancers and parents.
She made a stink about it and I'm pretty sure she was a teacher from one of the competing schools. I panicked all night about it. x.x My cousin still one a gold and third place so that woman can bite me. xD

I went into the store planning to get a Canon Rebel of some kind, but after nearly an hour of talking to one of the guys working there [he's a photography teacher as well as a photographer himself] and he talked me into a different model.
I got a Sony Alpha A200 <3
I don't even want to start with how much money the body, a filter, great backpack case, as well as a few other bits and pieces. You know what, I don't care, the camera's fantastic, and I can't wait to start taking photos with it. And the lenses for it are surprisingly cheap since Sony's still growing.
